Our filly continues to make great strides and she's now ridden around the yard with no issues.
This looks like a risk that has paid off, she looks twice the horse that we bought at the sale and she now represents tremendous value.
George is very happy with our Saxon Warrior filly and he believes she is incredibly well bought at £10,000!
What a difference a month makes!
Nick couldn't be happier with this fillies progress, she is eating up and thriving off it.
You can already see a huge difference from the day we bought her and if she continues her progression, she will prove outstanding value.
She will join George Chaloner at Cliff Stud to be broken in from next week.
This filly had a fairly poor preparation for the sale and this was compounded when she became sick at the sales.
Physically she looked a little sorry for herself but setting that aside, she ticked plenty of boxes and she was an excellent mover who is well put together and I suspect when we video her in around eight weeks time she will look like an entirely different horse.
She hails from a strong family with blacktype right down her page, the bulk of the family where bred and owned by the Rausing family and they excelled over middle distances. There has been a major update since the publication of the page with the half brother, Kjell Hroar finishing a close second in the listed Swedish derby.
She will be given plenty of time this side of Christmas before being broken in and joining Brian Ellison.
Brian has enjoyed a real breakthrough season with his juveniles despite his extremely limited resources. This hasn't gone unnoticed with ourselves sending him two yearlings so far along with several other high profile owners.
Only one of his 2yo's hasn't won so far this season and that gives him the highest winners to runners percentage in the country at 80%. This is even more impressive when all but one of his juveniles are eligible for band D restricted races.
Jayvee won the first 2yo race of the season back in April, she was then sold to American owners for a six figure sum, these owners will be supporting the yard in 2025. Sybaris Jewel is the only horse not to win so far this season but she finished third in the 30k Juddmonte restricted race at Beverley and was last seen finishing second to a well handicapped horse of ours called Sheila's Well.
Butterfly Jasmine won a Newcastle maiden all the way back in March, collecting a £20k Great British Bonus along the way, she will line up in the Listed 2yo trophy at Redcar this weekend.
The yards most impressive 2yo comes in the shape of Perfect Part, a £5,000 breeze up purchase who won the prestigious Hilary Needler Trophy on debut at odds of 150/1 and has since been highly tried in stakes company, giving a career best in the group two Lowther stakes beaten just three lengths.
From the start of the 2024 season to the end of August, there were 470 2yo novice or maidens, with 112 of those restricted to band C or D animals. 12 of those 112 where worth £30,000 in prize money and this is exactly where this filly will be aimed at. We have a clear plan and I expect she'll have a busy season, maximising your opportunity to hit the race track.
Again, she qualifies for the €10,000 IRE incentive which see’s owners’ rewards with an additional €10,000 on their prize money statement should we win a qualifying race.
