RAVENS PASS X TEA CUP

 It’s been a while but we are back with a new recruit, a filly prepared by the consignors of Marshman who describes her "all class"!

During the week, Nick and Sam went over to Mocklershill in Ireland to see a two year filly who has been on our radar since early in March.

Whilst speaking to several breeze up consignors, we were interested in finding out some more information in their best fillies ahead of the sales and Darragh Lordan was very keen on a Ravens Pass filly, informing us that she was the pick of the bunch.

After being purchased for 22,000gns as a yearling, she was catalogued to sell at the Tattersalls Guineas sale but she suffered a muscular injury in the final weeks before her date in Newmarket.

Approaching the sale, Daragh felt he would be well paid on the filly as she had shown plenty of speed at home and looked the ideal type for the 2.3f piece of work.

She has been back in full work for several weeks now and Darragh was back on the phone to say that we should be buying her.

We spoke to Mickey Cleere who is one of the most experienced work riders around and he said she is "special".

Sam sat on her on Tuesday, he cantered round the circle gallop before joining the stiff straight gallop owned that is used by so many of the leading breeze up consignors.

Sam was very impressed with her, immediately advising that she would be a certainty for a maiden...

Love Talk was a similar scenario earlier this year, he immediately knew she would be a nice filly and we are confident history can repeat itself.

From our several trips to Ireland, we have plenty of footage from Mocklershill, that includes Love Talk, Group three winner Hotzhell and yesterdays Arqana newcomers race winner, Mojave River.

This Ravens Pass filly came up quicker than any of the above which is obviously exciting and we think she is well above average providing she can put that together over five furlongs.

I have no doubt she will see out six furlongs eventually which would open up more opportunities as a three year old.

Her dam has produced a six time winner over six furlongs and the Ravens Pass x Danehill Dancer cross has produced one filly who was a listed winner as a 3yo!

Our trips to Ireland have paid dividends in recent times and we are very hopeful that our latest excursion will be a fruitful one!

She will be joining the best 2yo trainer in the country in the shape of Karl Burke.

Karl has won 35 2yo races in the UK so far this season, that is 14 more than anyone else.

We have also won 10 2yo races as we look to back up last seasons numbers whereby only Amo Racing and Godolphin had more than us.

We plan to win a restricted maiden during the first week of September before going to Ayr for the listed fillies race.

She does qualify for the Irish Incentive which will see her owners rewarded with a £10,000 bonus for winning a qualifying race, something that isn't the norm across the industry.
