Opportunities present themselves!
208 lots had passed through the ring when this filly came into the ring, almost eleven hours of action had passed and the crowd was down to single figures in the bidders and Nick felt this filly would 100% be buyable at that point.
We believe not only do we have plenty of horse for our money, just 22,000gns but there's also a considerable pedigree to match given the second dam has produced two stallions!
She is a well put together filly with excellent confirmation and a powerful looking step, just like her sire, multiple group winner, Pinatubo.
Unbeaten in his two year old campaign, those wins came on the biggest days of the calendar starting with the Woodcote Stakes on Oaks day at Epsom before he landed the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot in impressive fashion beating Lope Y Fernandez by over three lengths. It would be group action only after this, with wins in the group two Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the National Stakes at the Curragh.
His season would end with a devastating display in the Dewhurst at Newmarket which earnt him an odds on antepost price for the Guineas.
He would reappear in the Guineas where he was beaten by just over a length having being sent off 5/6 favourite, this would be his last start over the straight mile after he didn't quiet see it out. He finished second in the group one St James Palace Stakes just a fortnight later again beaten by just a length before getting his head back in front in group one company in France in the Prix Jean Prat over seven furlongs.
His first 2yo's hit the track in 2024 and although he hasn't produced that top tier stakes winner, he has produced Wolf Of Badenoch who finished second in the group two Vintage Stakes along with the 300k Scientific sales race winner, Hallasan who looks destined for Dubai over the winter where we are certain he'll record a first stakes success for the sire.
24 of his 36 runners on the racing post system have recorded an RPR of 70+, a common marker for being good enough to win a UK maiden, these are strong numbers but they've made his stock buyable, especially when they are the last lot of the day!
The dam, Dreams With You, is an unraced daughter of Oasis Dream out of a mare called Without You Babe.
Without You Babe is an exceptional mare, producing two stallions in the shape of Breeders Cup Dirt Mile winner, Tamarkuz and St.James Palace Stakes winner, Without Parole!
The first foal out of the dam sold for 300,000gns at last years book one sale and he has ran to an RPR of 86 for Ralph Beckett with a recent gelding operation expected to bring about some further improvement as a 3yo.
As our filly walked into the ring we felt that if she was making band "C" money <£40,000 then we just had to buy her given her pedigree and the increasing options for restricted animals. Had she have walked into the ring in the middle of the sale, we believe she'd have exceeded £40,000!
As I have eluded to previously, there where 112 maidens for 2yo's that cost under £40,000 in the first four months of the flat season, with 10% of those races offering prize money of £30,000.
What's more appealing is the fact that five of those 11 valuable maidens where fillies only contests, which reduces the pool of horses considerably and tips the odds well in our favour.
She also qualifies for a 100% Great British Bonus which will see owners rewarded with a £20,000 bonus per fillies race won, we'll look to pick up some early fillies only restricted maiden and novices.
Ollie's location within Manton is also a crucial point, 18 of those 112 restricted races where located within 60 miles of Ollie's base with most within 30 miles at tracks like Salisbury, Newbury, Bath and formerly, Chepstow.
Together, this gives us an almighty chance of success early in the season before we hopefully move on to bigger and better things, like this fillies pedigree will suggest she will.
She will qualify for the Tattersalls Auction Stakes at Newmarket next October which is ran over six furlongs and carries £150,000 in prize money, you'd think at this stage that a stiff six furlongs will suit this filly down to the ground.
Ollie is well on board with out desire to head into Europe to pick up black type with our fillies and that has to be the aim with a filly with a pedigree like this.
