AN ABOSLUTE NO BRAINER!
The Irish market has been very strong so far this season with the effects of leaving the EU and the current exchange rate having a strong impact on the British sales.
This filly was towards the top of our list on day one and when she came into the ring, we expected her to make far more than €25,000, so much so that we didn’t actually bid believing the outcome to be “vendor”. Upon publication, we saw Andrew had signed for the filly and we contacted his sales rep Tessa who advertised she was bought on spec and we could have half as Andrew was very keen to keep a 50% share in her based on her bargain hammer price.
Andrew has trained half of the mares foals and he holds the family in the highest regard.
The dam is a lightly raced Juddmonte mare who has a proven track record of producing winners, including American Listed winner, Ebeko and Japenese based London Tereso who has now won over £200,000 in prize money.
Her other two offspring where both trained by Andrew as previously mentioned. Cadmus was a winner on his third start, downing multiple group winner, Sweet William over twelve furlongs before an injury brought about an end of his racing career shortly after being sold for 180,000gns.
This years two year old, Point Of Contact is also trained by Andrew and he thinks plenty of him after just one start at Newbury where he split horses rated in the 90’s in a renowned strong maiden that produces smart types year on years.
The connections to Kingsclere doesn’t end there, Andrew also trained a colt for Kings Power racing by the same cross, Oasis Dream on Sir Percy, Shine So Bright was a real yard favourite having won over £200k in prize money including group success in the group two City Of York Stakes and further stakes success in a Listed race at Newmarket as a two year old.
This cross doesn’t miss with three winners from four runners with peak RPR’s of 81,77 and 114!
Andrew’s team expected to dig far deeper than they had to and they are delighted to have secured the filly for what they deem as a bargain price.
They have paid the €5,000 entry fee for the Goffs million next September and we are hoping she proves sharp enough for the Goffs 500 which looked very weak for the prize money on offer just last weekend. This was the first running of the race but it’s an angle we are keen to explore as we feel this sale lacks the depth of six furlongs running’s based on pedigree’s and we have a great chance of competing at the highest level should be sharp enough.
Again, she qualifies for the €10,000 IRE incentive which see’s owners’ rewards with an additional €10,000 on their prize money statement should we win a qualifying race.
