This Mehmas filly was purchased at the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale on the 24th of August from Trickledown Stud for £30,000.
Nick began viewing horses on the Monday morning, when he spoke to the vendor it became apparent that a lot of people had been put off her on the Sunday. She was bang in season on Sunday and as a result she was not relaxing or walking well due to her neighbours being predominantly colts.
When Nick saw her on Monday she was moving well, an impressive stretch, a great temperament and athletic action!
- Pedigree -
She is the first foal out of a fast french mare, Drop Dead Gorgeous, who won on debut at Chantilly over 5f. She was very highly regarded and considered to be a potential stakes horse before an injury on her second start saw her racing career come to an end. The sire, Mehmas, needs no introduction, standing at Tally-Ho Stud for €60,000. He was a an extremely quick colt as a 2yo, with his best performance coming in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood beating a first season sire for 2023 in Blue Point. With speed on both sides of the pedigree she is a perfect fit in the model that Nick does so well with.
- Nick's Thoughts -
A good moving filly with a great attitude, we expect her to debut around early May, with her expected trip over 5f.
She like most Mehmas fillies is a little bit on the small side, standing around 14'3 now, Nick believes she will probably end up around 15'2. Being an April foal she has plenty of time to grow before we begin her campaign next year.
We lunged her but she wouldn't go the other way, which probably happens with around 5-10% of yearlings. So we gave her a wind test, which returned a Grade 1 scope. Her test was carried out by Peter Hines who said she had a 'massive throat'. The last time Peter said this it was two years a go and it was Fev Rover...
She will join our Grant Tuer team, who liked her as well. Grant himself has taken a share in her after seeing her.
