Bay Foal Filly
Sire: Lope Y Fernandez
Dam: She's Amazing
Dam's Sire: Showcasing
Purchase Date: 02/12/2023
Sale: Tattersall December Foal Sale
DOB: 03/03/2023
As well as selling over 400,000 gns worth of foals this week, we’ve also been on the hunt for our first foal syndicate purchase and I’m pleased to say we have secured her earlier this afternoon. We had a small list of fillies and have been very strict with our valuations but we feel we’ve got away with one with this filly.
She’s by Lope Y Fernandez, a GB stallion we are keen to support given how well we expect him to do, some of his stock have looked exceptional, full of improvement and the right people on them. As the name would suggest, he’s by all conquering Lope De Vega but he more than made a name for himself, winning a group race over 6f as a two-year-old before huge placed efforts in Group one races such as the Irish 2000 Guineas, Prix Jean Prat, Maurice De Gheest and later the Breeders’ cup mile.
This foal is out of a Showcasing mare which was major plus for us when we were putting her case together. Lope De Vega x Showcasing is a cross that happened only one, producing Khatwah who ran to a peak RPR of 99, he improved with age and for a trip of around a mile after crucially been campaigned over an inadequate trip for most of her career.
She is also 100% GBB qualified which is another feather in her cap when we hit the yearling sales or retain her to race. She will be prepared at Glebe Farm by our ever-growing bloodstock team, our pre trainers have commented on just how well our homebreds have shaped up once they’ve arrived, again that breaths confidence into the idea.
Indeed, the major selling point has to be price and in truth, it’s the reason why we’ve only purchased one foal at the sale. We would comfortably have given 20,000gns for this filly so the fact we paid only 8,000gns is a real coup! The costs for 100% total £28,000 so we aren’t far off free expenses had we given what we expected to pay.
Our initial thoughts are to syndicate this foal to eventually race but that plan may change, we will prepare her for the yearling sales and see how we get on.
The costs below include everything from this point onwards until 1st March 2025 should we choose to race her in NBR silks. That will entail all vets bills, certificates and the breaking in process.
