"Sure to win a maiden, an 80+ filly"
Katie Walsh's Greenhill Farm is a real powerhouse, indeed just five lots at the breeze up's so far have yielded over £1,300,000!
They went into Doncaster expecting the filly to clock a "top" 30 time but for reasons eluded to on the right, that was never going to be achievable. Should it have been accomplished, this filly would have sold for six figures and realistically fallen out of our price bracket and model.
Kodiac x Ravens Pass has a 44% runners to winner strike rate and the bloodlines are responsible for the Mill Reef winner, Kessaar. The winning "nicks" have all performed better on either quicker ground or an all weather surface and this filly looks set to continue that mould based on her action and level of discomfort on the easy ground on the Town Moor.
The mare was a sharp filly, she placed in two maidens over 5f at Chelmsford and Goodwood, two tracks with emphasis on speed. She was a full sister to a G3 placed filly in America and horses such as Calyx and Native Trail can be found further down the page.
She spent a week at Ollie's pre training yard before moving into his main yard in the middle of this week.
During her breeze itself, she was very raw and clearly wasn't in love with the ground. She was actually past the cameras when Sean asked her to quicken which resulted in a false timing in her opening furlong, which wasn't helped by her fly leaping in her first few strides.
We were particularly interested in her Gallop Out time which was the 4th fastest in the entire sale! This is the final 60 yards and is a very useful tool especially in testing conditions, we think this filly has a real engine on her!
The average price of the top ten gallops outs was over £156k with everything selling for at least double our price!
She was the third fastest overall time of her rider's 11 rides, this is fairly remarkable given she was asked for her effort too late and she skipped several strides in the first 1.5 furlongs.
She came down 209th which was in the final hours of the day. Those horses that breezed in the first 100 lots produced 28 of the top 50 times, with the average time slowly slightly throughout the day, indeed the last 40 lots produced just 4 of those top 50!
Both the vendor and Ollie have retained 20% shares.
Just as NBR has done so in the past, we believe we have found some real value away from the "quickest" times.
