Karl is extremely happy with our Kodi Bear filly, going as far to say, she's his favourite of all of our 2yo's at Spigot Lodge.
She should be one for the middle of the season, a big, strong filly who will likely start off over 6f with 7-8f not been out of the question.
Jamie is very happy with how the filly has trained and believes she is plenty forward.
She will shortly be introduced to some upsides work before she heads up to Karl’s in time for our open day on the 20th of this month.
Our filly has settled into Jamie Lloyd's pre training base and has started to be ridden.
After getting involved early in the day with the Sands of Mali filly, we had to be patient for our next purchase who came very late on day one, lot 219 but she was certainly worth that wait!
We entered the sale with a precise tactic to purchase the very best physicals and excellent movers with a view to sending to Karl Burke should he also like the fillies, and once again our lists matched!
Karl will be taking a share in the horse such is his confidence in her working out, further encouragement is offered by the vendor, Rathbarry Stud, also retaining a share in the filly. Our record at Karl's needs no introduction, we are the leading 2yo owner in his yard and he is the leading 2yo trainer by quiet some way!
The filly qualifies for the IRE incentive which rewards owners with a €10,000 prize should we win a qualifying race, we have won 5 in 2023 and are one of the leading owners supporting the scheme.
Nick was responsible for the very best Kodi Bear filly to date in Oaks 2nd Mystery Angel and he see's plenty of similarities in this filly, she wont be early and is one for the second half of the 2yo season. Kodi Bear continues to gather momentum as a sire, quality horses such as Go Bears Go, Ever Given and Thunderbear have all emerged in recent years.
The dam, an unraced daughter of Pour Moi has produced two winners from two runners albeit at a low level, our filly looks a grade above those physically when they went through the ring.
