- Lot 118 -
This filly was bought by Nick Bradley at the Tattersalls Somerville Sales for 13,000 Guineas. This filly is a far better looking and moving yearling than her sibling and was towards the top of Nick's shopping list at the sale. She is well developed and a good looking fluid mover.
- Pedigree -
This filly has a pedigree that Nick is particularly familiar with. Mystery Angel to date is the most successful daughter of Kodi Bear on the racetrack with her picking up just short of £200,000 in prize money and Group 1, 2nd placed finish in the Oaks, the Epsom classic.
On the dam side, this filly is a cousin of Realtra whom Nick purchased for 10,000 Euros, she went on to win three times at Group 3 level and is now establishing herself as a broodmare.
She is a good looking daughter of Kodi Bear, the second out of the dam Alosha. Alosha's first foal sold for 4,500 Euros as a yearling which was an indication of her physical make up. She was then sold for 65,000 at the breeze ups but is yet to show that promise on the racetrack.
- Nick's Thoughts -
When she walked into the ring Nick expected her to make between £30,000 and £50,000. However she was announced as a box walker which instantly put off a large percentage of the potential buyers, including all of those who were looking to resell her as a 2yo.
Box walking is a stress related condition and can affect the horses physically as the trainer's can find it hard to keep condition on the horses. To date this hasn't been an issue with this filly as she looked magnificent at the sales.
On learning she was a box walker it gave Nick confidence that he would be able to secure the filly for a bargain price and that was the case at just 13,000 Guineas.
She joins Grant Tuer who Nick combined with so well in 2022 with Mersea who won at York and got within 6 lengths of the Nunthorpe 2nd placed horse despite carrying a penalty.
She looks the type to debut in May over 5 or 6 furlongs as a 2yo.
