James Cowley, Karl's assistant trainer was particularly sweet on one filly, describing her as a nice, smart filly who he expects will be on the track in the opening months of the season. He even went as far as to say he really likes her which is obviously a big positive as they gradually step up her work over the coming weeks.
She did her first piece of upsides work at the back end of last week which can be seen above and in full on the link below.
She is on the far side, alongside a Twilight Son filly who we are also told is highly thought of!
All of our 2yo's went up into the round, sand gallop on Saturday and it was clear to see that the Invincible Army filly had a very willing attitude. She wanted to get on with things and was eager to please, she looked sharp and there was plenty to like.
She had a really good mind on her at the sales, she was faultless on both occasions we went to see her and the vendor reported that she had been an absolute dream up until that point.
Physically she's all there, a strong filly with a very good hind leg, we'd expect her to be pretty fast! She was on our shortlist for the day and when we compared notes with Karl and Kelly Burke, they had a big star against her which was great to see.
Purchased for €30,000, that makes her the second most expensive yearling filly by the stallion in 2024 and we were pretty much on our last bid when the hammer came down. We were thrilled to secure her, she's the exact model that ourselves, and Karl, have excelled with over the past few years.

Karl likes this filly. He tells me she is strong and is pleasing him.
He sees her as a 6-7 furlong filly who will be in the second wave of his 2yos, ie debut in May over 6 furlongs and take it from there.
He tells me she isn't small and there is plenty to work with.

"The Invincible Army filly out of Gheedaa is a nice filly and she's well liked by the riders. She is a good mover, with a great mind and she looks fairly forward so she should be early enough. There hasn't been one bit of bad news to report so far"
Travelling in fourth
Can be seen in third in the string of 2yo fillies
Back out on the gallops, she can be seen in second.
Our fillies exercise may remain in the sheltered gallop for the next few days given the weather!
James reports that she has settled into life at Spigot Lodge.
She's a grand filly who is doing everything asked of her very easily at this stage.
Nick has a strong opinion on mares producing their best two foals consecutively, whilst many would say their third or fourth foal is usually their peak produce, on this occasion we have both!
Our filly is the fourth foal out of the mare, and her previous foals have improved year on year, with last year's two year old having a significant amount of ability.
Arabian Sun, won on his second start for Clive Cox, beating the very talented Stratusnine, who would go on to finish second in the £100k EBF Colts and Geldings Final at York, after winning a warm contest at Ayr. Arabian Sun was then sent off just 10/1 for Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood but he didn't get home over the seven furlongs, but he is still a horse with undeniable potential heading into his three year old campaign and we expect to see some strong pedigree updates from the colt. I suspect he will be running over sprint trips as a three year old, which doesn't come as a surprise, given the mare herself had bundles of speed, finishing fourth in the Scurry Stakes behind Battaash!
Gheedaa's previous foals have been by stallions you would associate with more of a stamina influence than Invincible Army, Arabian Sun is by Saxon Warrior for example. Invincible Army was a group winner at two, three and four and he took his racing extremely well, seventeen of his nineteen runs came in stakes company, with him finishing in the first three on twelve occasions.
Whilst Invincible Army hasn't took off like some predicted, he is more than capable of producing a nice horse over a sprint distance. James' Delight recorded an RPR of 116 when finishing a neck second in the G3 Meautry, with the Listed winner progressing right throughout 2024. That's a common occurrence with many of his better horses, although they show speed and precocity, they all improve with age. Balmoral Lady would be the finest example of that, rated just sixty nine at the end of July 2024, she missed on the Listed Wentworth Stakes at the end of the season by the narrowest of margins, and now finds herself rated ninety nine, on the back of the run with four victories prior.
2024 saw several stakes and sales race winners for the stallion, Naana's Diamond and The Dragon King, just two of those, both being 2yo's from fairly limited numbers for the sire.
The final tick in the box is the successful cross, Invincible Army x Tamayuz has already produced a prolific winner in the shape of Pal's Battalion (RPR 91).
On everything we have seen to date, this filly will be winning races in 2025! We'll be targeting the Irish Incentive restricted races, hoping to pick up a €10,000 bonus for her owners by winning a qualifying maiden.
She is trained by arguably the best trainer of a two year old in the country and she's on we shouldn't have too long to wait for!
