Your filly has moved to Brian's yard in Malton and he is very happy with her.
.
He describes her as one of the most forward yearlings he has in, both physically and mentally.
This filly is currently his pick from the five yearlings we have there based on how forward she is.
On the final day of the Goffs Orby sale, we had a very small shortlist of fillies with exceptional physical attributes.
This filly isn't small, she's a big, powerful filly with an eyecatching stride.. plenty of horse for our money!
A few people did ask the question regarding the stallion and that's probably the reason why the breeze up buys weren't on her at the sale as he isn't a fashionable name and in fact, some people just haven't heard of him.
He's a son of Kodiac himself, he won on debut at Leicester before running at Royal Ascot, Newmarket's July meeting and in the £300k sales race at Doncaster to conclude his juvenile season where he was sent off favourite beaten just three lengths. He went up a league as a three year old, winning a listed race on his first start of the season before going onto win a group three on his final start. He had several near misses at the highest level which included being beaten two lengths in the group one Maurice De Gheest and just half a length in the group two, Hungerford Stakes.
A surprising addition to the stallion roster, in his first three years he has had just twenty seven horses sell through the ring and its this reason why he's been pretty much forgotten about. He's actually only had seventy horses hit the track throughout Europe and he's had virtually zero chance to prove himself as a sire. Of this cohort of seventy horses, half of them recorded an RPR of 70+ which is extremely positive.
Despite these tiny numbers, he's already seen success at the very highest level with a multiple graded winner in America with Shantisara. The mare was picked up from a French claimer and she has gone on to win four graded races including the grade one Queen Elizabeth II Challenge at Keeneland.
Coulsty has also produced a group winner in Britain with Santosha who won the group three Princess Margaret stakes as a two year old at Ascot.
He has received several boosts lately with Bolo Neighs who destroyed his rivals in the Goffs 500 collecting over €240,000 for his connections before finishing third in Listed company at York despite his poor track position.
Fiona Maccoul was another big sales race success for the stallion just this weekend when she landed the €120k Irish auction stakes at Naas.. we underbid this (ouch)!
His early results haven't got unnoticed though and his 2023 crop is almost double that of his life time numbers up to that point and 2025 is the first year where he will have considerable juveniles on the track.
I am of the opinion that he is about to have a breakthrough year and our filly could look extremely good value in twelve months time.
Given the stallions success in America, our filly could look an attractive proposition for potential buyers if we can place her right and win a restricted maiden on her first start.
