We where trilled to secure the only daughter of Caravaggio for sale in part two of the Goffs Orby yearling sale. 

On a day with around twelve on our shortlist, this filly was one of three who had a star against her name and she looked an absolute picture when we went to see her after the hammer went down. Ollie loved her when he was sent the footage and immediately agreed to train her, taking a considerable share in the filly.

Caravaggio currently stands in Japan after a brief spell in America and therefore he has an extremely small sample size that pass through the ring in Britain and Ireland, we were just the third offspring so far this sales season!

He was electric on the track, running ten times being beaten just the three (all at group one level). He was a group one winner himself, firstly in the Phoenix Stakes after an unbeaten two-year-old campaign before a sensational win the Commonwealth cup on his second start as a three year old beaten fellow stallions, Harry Angel and Blue Point.

He really stamps his crop and he has already produced a long list of stakes winners including British group winners, Maljoom, Porta Fortuna, Tiber Flow and Tenerbrism, not forgetting American grade one winner Whitebeam.

This filly looks quick but there’s enough size and scope to think she’ll possibly stay seven furlongs by the end of her two year old campaign which would open up so many options. Her unraced dam was a €320k breeze up purchase after a scintillating time on the clock and we are sure she had inherited some of that black type which sits deep into the page.

Several breeze up consignors followed her into the ring including Willie Brown of Mocklershill who underbid her. We weren’t to be denied with this one!

We have paid the €5,000 entry fee into the Goffs two million incentive and we’ll be working backwards from the 6/7f races that take place in September 2025.

As mentioned above, she will be joining Ollie Sangster who continues to make great strides from Manton. 

We couldn’t be more impressed with the team and look forward to developing our partnership over the coming seasons.

He is already winning group races in just his second season which is a fantastic accomplishment!
