Our filly can be seen gantering in third behind Body Parts (lead) and our Ardad filly (second).
Gemma is taking the Sands Of Mali filly along with some other 2yo's for a racecourse gallop in the week.
That will give us a good gauge on ability and levels of fitness
"A PROPER physical!"
Our second purchase of the Goff's Doncaster Breeze Up was this eye catching Sands Of Mali filly who was consigned by the illustrious, Tally Ho Stud.
We gave 36,000gns for the daughter of the first season sire, Sands Of Mali and we had a couple more bids should they have been required. There's a strong word for the sire and he's already recorded an early season 2yo winner in France.
Just like her sire, this filly looks quick and her time backs that up. The dam was a 2yo maiden winner and has also produced 2yo winner's over sprint trips.
She qualifies for the €10k IRE Incentive which will see us be rewarded with a good chunk of her purchase price almost immediately.
She will join Gemma Tutty who has already had a 2yo winner in the shape of Hot To Trot who like this filly, was signed for by Kings Bloodstock.
Gemma had a very good season last year and I am very confident she will blow those numbers out of the park this season as she attracts further owners and ultimately better horses.
We had her knee's x-rayed and they came back all clear which is excellent news and means we can crack on straight away!
During her breeze she was a little raw early on but she recorded the 32nd fastest time out of 217 horses that came up the Town Moor!
We were particularly interested in her Gallop Out time which was the 11th fastest in the entire sale. This is the final 60 yards and is a very useful tool especially in testing conditions, we think this filly has a real engine on her!
She was the third fastest overall time of her rider's 11 rides, the two faster horses sold for 88,000 and 100,000gns which puts our purchase of 38,000gn firmly in the money well spent category!
She came down 208th which was in the final hours of the day. Those horses that breezed in the first 100 lots produced 28 of the top 50 times, with the average time slowly slightly throughout the day, indeed the last 40 lots produced just 4 of those top 50!
Tally-Ho continue to produce quality breeze up stock and this year looks no different with 14 horses selling for over £1,000,000! Our filly was their fifth fastest horse and given the average price of their horses was over £100,000, we feel she is tremendous value.
Sands of Mali progeny were popular at the sale with all six horses breezing well, our filly was the fastest of the lot and still three lots commanded a bigger purchase price including one for 150,000gns!
Just as NBR has done so in the past, we believe we have found some real value away from the "quickest" times.
