Yearling Bay Filly
Trainer: George Boughey
Sire: Markaz
Dam: Disko
Dam's Sire: Kodiac
Purchase Date: 21/09/20
Height at Withers: TBC
"This filly out of 95 rated DISKO looked all speed! Delighted to have her in the barn for next year." George Boughey.
This filly was purchased from the Tattersalls Ireland Sale held in Newmarket on September 22nd.
This is a sale which Dandalla and Mere Green were sourced from in 2019 and going back further Nick found Vona and Realtra who were both Dark Angel fillies who won Stakes races for Nick having cost very little at the sales.
Nick had a shortlist of less than 10 fillies that he was keen to add to the ranks, having viewed over 200 fillies at the sale.
This filly is by Markaz who has not had a great start to his stallion career and as a result a lot of the agents weren't considering his progeny at the sales. He has sired plenty of winners but due to a small first crop size he hasn't hit the headlines in the same way as the likes of Mehmas has. This time last year, the same could have been said of Gutaifan which allowed Nick to pick up Fev Rover for 20,000 who has gone on to win at Listed and Group 2 level in 2020 and is expected to pick up a success at Group 1 level before the end of the season.
Had Markaz had a better start to his stud career this filly would have sold for a lot more than £11,000.
She is out of the mare Disko, who Nick remembers as a racey filly. She won as a 2yo in May and went on to finish 4th in the Empress Stakes before injury curtailed her racing career. She has already produced the 94 rated She Can Boogie who herself was a 5-furlong sprinter.
Markaz was a grey son of Dark Angel and looking at this filly, she looks very much like her dam sire Kodiac who is probably the most prolific influence of speed on the planet right now. Had she been a daughter of Kodiac out of a Markaz mare, she would have sold for around £50,000.
This filly is a very good physical and that is why Nick purchased her. She is a strong good moving filly with a good step and a great hind leg. She is a very powerful filly and in Nick's view in the top five physicals in the sale.
The average price of the top five fillies on Nick's list was around £50,000 so Nick is very confident we have snared a bargain in this filly.
In 2019 Nick managed to find the best daughter of Dandy Man (Dandalla), Gutaifan (Fev Rover) and Adaay (Furlong Factor) at the sales. That is a ridiculous achievement when you consider that each of those stallions has approximately 100 2yos on the ground. Nick is also confident that this filly will end up being the best 2yo by the stallion in 2021.
She joins George Boughey who has had an outstanding 2020 with 23 winners on the board already by 23rd September, scoring at an incredible 26% with very cheaply sourced horses. George is a highly motivated young man who is striving for success and together with Nick Bradley Racing should be bound for the top in 2021. George is excellent with owners and has impressed the Mystery Angel and Silent Queen owners already on yard visits.

"She is a lovely Lope De Vega filly, with very good conformation, out of a nice speedy family. I really love the sire and this filly looks very sharp and has lots of quality. I look forward to some good days on the race course in 2021." Jessica Harrington
This filly was purchased by Nick, Jessica Harrington and Patrick Cooper of BBA Ireland on 1st October 2020 for £60,000.
Our new recruit is a strong good moving daughter of sire sensation Lope de Vega. The Goffs Orby Sale had a mixed bag of fillies in the sale this year and Nick ended up with a shortlist of 53 fillies from just over 200 viewed. Of the 53 that remained on the shortlist this filly was definitely in the top 20 physicals and probably around 10th to 15th in the entire catalogue of fillies.
Our filly has a great hip with a powerful action and very much looks and moves like a colt. She very much looks like her sire with the typical Lope de Vega head but she has a sprinter's hip and based on looks and pedigree we would expect her to be starting off over 6 furlongs in May/June and as she matures making up into a 7-8 furlong horse.
Looking at the pedigree of this filly she is by the high-class stallion Lope de Vega who has had 10 Stakes winners in 2020 alone in Europe, behind only Galileo and Dubawi.
Lope de Vega excels with his fillies on the track both as 2yos and as 3yos. In recent years he has had the likes of Newspaperofrecord, Manuela de Vega, Capla Temptress, Feliciana de Vega and Antonia de Vega who are all Stakes winners.
Jessica knows all about training the progeny of Lope de Vega with horses like Cadillac (Group 2 winner) and Lucky Vega (Group 1 winner) who were both bought at the Goffs Orby Sale in 2019 by Jessica and her team.
She is the first filly Nick has had in training with Jessica, Nick has been following Jessica's runners in recent years and in 2020 her level of success has rose again.
Plan A will be for this filly to be winning a Maiden and then we will be looking to compete in the Stakes races in Ireland next Summer.

This filly was bought from the Goffs Sportsman Sale on September 24th 2020.
Nick was adamant that she was coming home with this filly today from the sale and was probably his pick of the entire sale.
She is a strong, powerful, and good moving filly who looks very masculine and very much like a colt. On seeing the filly Nick asked Karl and Kelly Burke both to look at the filly and both thought the filly was physically very impressive. Karl was as keen as Nick to secure the filly and took a share in her himself.
She was a little unsettled at the sale and has the scope for being a handful being by Buratino and out of a Hawk Wing mare both of whom can throw horses who have a degree of temperament.
She behaved much better when she got to the ring and looked like a filly who was just ready to be broken in and get started with her training. Many agents didn't look at the filly having been put off by her pedigree.
She is expected to be a sharp early filly who will debut in May and be competing over 6 furlongs to 1 mile.
She will be trained by Karl Burke who Nick has combined so well with over recent years. The pair have the undefeated Group 2 and Group 3 winner Dandalla in 2020 as well as the likes of Group 3 winner Little Kim and Listed placed Terrichang and Miss Lucy who was sold to race in the U.S. for a lot of money.

This filly was purchased from the Goffs Sportsman Sale by Nick and Karl on 25th September 2020.
The Goffs Sportsman Sale was a sale transferred from Naas, Ireland to Doncaster in the UK in a last-minute decision so the sale could go ahead.
Nick has tried to focus on buying the best individuals at the sales and relying on his ability to see angles that other people don't and in this filly, we think he has struck gold again.
This filly is out of the second crop of the stallion Estidkaar. She is catalogued as being out of a mare who has produced 3 foals and 2 runners. This was catalogued incorrectly by Goffs and her pedigree is far better than it suggests on paper.
Wishyouwerehere has actually bred 2 winners from 3 runners. The Anjaal filly 'Qing Shen Yi Chang' was bought and exported to China where she won twice as a 2yo. The 2yo colt by Prince of Lir was bought by Ben McElroy at the Yearling Sales for 40,000 Guineas and exported to the U.S. where he is in training with Wesley Ward. He has ran twice to date finishing 3rd on debut before going on to win on the turf on his second start at Gulfstream in a $65,000 Maiden Special Weight. Gulfstream is a premier track in the U.S. and Maiden Special Weight's are the equivalent of our Novice races in the UK.

He has since done a track workout where he recorded the 5th fastest of the 29 horses who worked on that day and looks set to be running again soon.

This filly was one of the best moving fillies at the sale, she has a great way of going and couldn't be faulted on her action.
She is very much in the frame of her sire Estidkaar, she is a shade long and narrow and wouldn't be as physically strong as the other fillies we have bought to date. She looked poorly prepped at the sales and Nick plans to give her plenty of conditioning work at home before she leaves but this isn't something that should concern anyone. Turning the clock back 12 months, she is very much a filly who is in the frame of a Fev Rover rather than a Dandalla.
Nick sees her as a filly for the second half of the season running over trips between 6 and 8 furlongs.
Nick and Karl were prepared to bid to £20,000 to secure the filly and feel they have secured a bargain when buying this filly. Karl has bought a 50% share in this filly.

This filly was purchased by Nick Bradley and George Boughey for 11,000 Guineas from Tattersalls Book 4 October Yearling Sales.
This was Nick and George's final purchase from the October Yearling sales and was actually the highest selling yearling from the Book 4 sale. She made sense to purchase on several angles and could be excellent value for money.
She is out of the mare Psychic's Dream who has bred the excellent 2yo Ataser by Sayif, who has won three from his five starts including handicaps at Doncaster at York and is now rated 90 and still progressing.
Physically she isn't as impressive as some of the yearling fillies we have purchased to date. She has a strong enough hip, one that would suggest she will be a sprinting 2yo. She is an April foal so still has a bit of growing to do and is smaller than the average 2yo filly we have purchased. She hasn't got a huge walk, but her action is adequate. She has good confirmation and a confirmation to suggest that she still has growing and filling out of her frame to complete.
She will complete ten weeks conditioning work at Glebe Farm before she moves to George's yard where she will begin the breaking in process. We think that physically we can improve her and strengthen her up ahead of her 2yo campaign.
She qualifies for the Great British Bonus and being by a British based stallion she will pick up a £20,000 bonus every time she wins one of the nominated races.
