3YO Bay Filly
Trainer: Mark Johnston
Sire: GLENEAGLES
Dam: CAPE COLUMBINE
Dam's Sire: DIKTAT
Purchase Date: 09/10/19
FULLY SYNDICATED
This filly was purchased from the 2019 October Tattersalls Book 1 Sale by Nick Bradley and Mark Johnston.
GLENEAGLES has had an outstanding start to his career at stud with 3 Stakes Winners on the board from his first crop of 2yos, the same number as KINGMAN, NIGHT OF THUNDER and SHAMARDAL.
GLENEAGLES best son to date is Group 2, July Stakes winner ROYAL LYTHAM, who had enough speed to win over 6 furlongs and then progressed to finish beaten just a length in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes.
Our filly is out of CAPE COLUMBINE who won at Newmarket at 2 and went on to finish 5th in the 1,000 Guineas. To date, CAPE COLUMBINE has produced 3 winning progeny including the 98 rated KASB who was a very good 2yo for John Gosden.
Our filly is a very good model, she has plenty of size and substance to her. She is a refined and elegant mover who has a very good action and covers plenty of ground in her stride. She has excellent confirmation and her temperament seems to be very relaxed, she has reminded Nick's staff of FRANKEL’S STORM when she arrived from Book 1 this time last year.
Given her pedigree and physique we would expect her to be the type to start off as a 2yo in June or July over 6/7 furlongs and progress to running at trips around a mile.
GLENEAGLES yearling fillies averaged 235,000 Guineas at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sale and collectively were a very high standard. Our filly cost just 55,000 and we feel represents a real bargain given how athletic and fluent her action is.
She qualifies for the £10,000 Plus 10 and of course the Tattersalls £25,000 Book 1 Bonus so that means a victory in a Novice or Maiden will net her £35,000 on top of the prize money.
She has a Grade 2A scope.
"We were very pleased to secure lot 210 at the Tattersalls Book 1 sale for Nick Bradley Racing. A strong, scopey filly by GLENEAGLES out of a dam who was rated 108 and 4th in Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, so she hails from a good family and also qualifies for the £25,000 book 1 bonus and also the plus 10 bonus. So as we did with FRANKEL'S STORM this year who won over £40,000 in one start, the hope and aim with this filly will be to win back the vast majority of her purchase price in one go. She is by a sire in GLENEAGLES who we only had 2 horses by him this season, but both 2yo fillies we feel are stakes class and he’s an up and coming young sire who we’ve been supporting heavily at the recent sales and are very keen to follow more and are very happy to secure this well bred filly by him for Nick Bradley Racing."
