A big scopey colt, standing at an impresive 16'1. A size that Nick wouldn't normally purchase but the way he came up the track when he breezed caught Nick's attention. This year the horse that was 2nd in the Craven for Jane Chapple-Hyam (Claymore), 2nd to Native Trail. Was sold for 10,000 at the Goresbrige Breeze Up Sale last year. After reviewing, his interpretation of his breeze was that the 2f wasn't long enough for the horse to truelly do himself justice. Nick is hopeful it is a similar story with this Brazen Beau colt.

He is bred slightly differently to Claymore, as Brazen Beau you typically associate with sprinters. This colt doesn't look a sprinter to Nick. He ran the 1st furlong in 11.74, 2nd furlong 10.89, giving him a combined time of 22.63, with his gallop out being 4.45. His 1st furlong was nothing spectacular, 2nd furlong was in the top 1/3. His gallop out however was 8th fastest overall. Nick thought as he did with Claymore that he was just getting going as the line came. Which would fit in with the size and shape of the horse we have bought. 

Nick purchased him for 15,000. He could be a 6/7f maiden winner in June, July or August or no good...But at the price it offers value. Just like Nick saw with Fast Response last year, who performed a similar breeze. Beginning slow, and then a quick gallop out.

The guy who rode our colt in the breeze, a guy called Fagner, he rode in total 18 horses during the sale. Of the 18 he rode this colt was the 8th fastest & the 2nd fastest gallop out of them all! With the faster being the Prince of Lir filly that made 75,000, and that being a small 5f filly.

Nick think's this horse has huge amounts of potential, if he is a miler he will be very good, if he turns out to be a 6f horse he may well just be average. We will be sending him over to Roger Fell, who helped supply us with our first 2yo winner of the season. Very much just the start as we are confident we will be having a lot more 2yo success with our string at Roger's over the coming weeks!
