Nick has bought his first breeze up horse for 2022!

Nick purchased this Bated Breath colt for £28,000 at Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale from Fairgreen Stables. He was very confident about being able to buy this colt. He was sold early in the sale which often see prices below the middle of the sale. He was also bought for just £800 at the yearling sales so the vendor was very likely to release him at a low reserve. Some of the lads who had been riding him at home were at the sales and I was told after the hammer had gone down that they liked him alot. 

Nick has only ever known one other progeny of Bated Breath breeze better than this horse at the sales, he was called Land Shark and went to the Irish 2,000 Guineas as a 3yo. This colt produced a very solid breeze, his time was in the top 20% and he didn't look as fit as some of the other horses in the sale.

Physically stands about 15'3. A little bit offset at front, sound , good conformation, good model. Nick thought it was a horse that could run well at 2 but also train on at 3. The thinking behind this was that Bated Breath generally breeds horses that generally aren't ready to 'Rock N Roll' by April. If you were to look at the runners that Bated Breath had in April there would be very few, and certainly wouldn't be good ones. Justin confirmed that he had received a Grade 1 scope. 

  Justin spoke to Nick after the hammer had gone down and was very bullish about the horse, he felt that we could be running him in three weeks over 5 furlongs. For him to say that tells us that he has showed plenty of speed at home and impressed Justin. 

We are going to send to Roger Fell, who trained Eldrickjones who Nick purchased from this sale last year. He qualifies to run in Restricted C races and I would be very surprised if Roger wasn't working him in the second week of May and raving about him shortly afterwards. Similar horse, similar profile, let's see if we get some similar results!
